Friends have often asked me “how did you publish a book, Vinia?”. To that I could only answer “I didn’t have a clue, actually!”. That created laughter. But that was the truth! I really didn’t know how to do it. I have never written a book until now. My friends then asked me a second question, “why did you do it?”
The “why” becomes bigger than “how”
Now it makes sense! I have that burning desire inside me, waiting to be unleashed. But what is it exactly? Well it is that I want to leave a “guide” to my son, something he can use in this university called Life.
Like a dictionary
If you are not sure of a certain word, you look up the meaning in a dictionary or Google it, right? Hopefully, my book would serve the same usefulness. Whenever my son needs help with a particular situation, he could look it up and say “oh yeah! That’s what Mom would tell me what to do on this occasion!”. Like everyone else, I am not here forever but the book will always be there for him. Life is complicated enough. That is probably why I have just given him “50 Rules.” It could have been a hundred rules but less is more. I hope you will find it useful too.
Your calling
Let me ask you something: In your heart of hearts, is there something you would like to do in this world that means so much to you? Something that you think of before you go to bed and when you first wake up in the morning. What is it? Think about it for a minute. Change career, be an entrepreneur, learn how to play a musical instrument, be a blogger, travel and see the wonders of the world (once the pandemic is over), ditch the city and pack up and go to live in the countryside where you will avoid the hustle and bustle and find peace and quiet, learn a different language, be a yoga teacher, help disabled children, join the Samaritan, or whatever else you can think of. It could be big, it could be small. I don’t know! Only you can tell. Then, follow your heart and do it! Believe that you can achieve and work for it! Don’t give up and keep going even when the going gets tough! You only walk on this planet once and there is no repeat performance. Live life to its fullest by doing what you think will make you happy and contented and remember, when you know “why” , it will overcome the “how.”
